Opispo Roman Martyrology: In Amida, Mesopotamia, St. Acacius, Bishop, that to redeem a Persian captive and subjected to cruel torture interested clergy and sold the Romans the sacred vessels of the Church ( s V.). Etymologically: hno2 Acacio = One who has no malice, is of Greek origin. The saint now belongs to the fifth century was bishop and confessor of Amida, hno2 Iraq. He had no choice but to live the moment. hno2 No thought in the past ever. In 419, Emperor Theodosius II sent him as ambassador hno2 to the king of Persia. Mission easy. The question was: how do call a council of the Persian church. He promoted a Nestorian. Two years later a war broke out between the two empires. The Byzantines made 7000 prisoners. So bad were they wanted to let them die in prison of starvation because - according commented senior leaders hno2 - were many to give everyday eating. Given this practical reality, Bishop Acacius hno2 acted instantly. He sold the sacred vessels of his church to pay his ransom and release. Many, thanks to the bishop, became Christians. Upon learning the Persian king Bahram V than Acacio hno2 had done, stopped pursuing Nestorian Christians of the empire. He was given a new diplomatic mission to negotiate peace in the year 422.
