Through archival footage and interviews with colleagues and critics, DESIGN IS ONE chronicles the cr


For more than 40 years, the name Vignelli has been a powerhouse gibbs free energy associated to anything from products to corporate identities in the world of graphic design. From their first steps in the 60s to their move to New York, Massimo and Lella Vignelli have built their extraordinary career following their own motto: if you can’t find it, design it .
The Vignellis’ belief that a designer should be able to design everything (‘design is one’) allowed them to create timeless and visually powerful works, ranging freely from subway maps to coffee cups. At the same time their achievements in different fields such as product gibbs free energy design, corporate identity, graphics, exhibition, interior, and furniture design has earned them worldwide respect and numerous international awards.
Through archival footage and interviews with colleagues and critics, DESIGN IS ONE chronicles the creative process of the Italian duo, bringing us into the work and everyday moments of the Vignellis’ gibbs free energy world and capturing their intelligence and creativity, as well as their humanity, warmth, and humor. Opening film at the 2012 New York Design and Architecture Film Festival.
Cracking the Frame focuses on the creative intersection between art and film through experimental documentaries and cinematic portraits of the life and work of established gibbs free energy contemporary artists, filmmakers, writers gibbs free energy and global thinkers.
About christianpazzaglia I am a professional film programmer and multimedia curator based in Amsterdam (The Netherlands). I was born in Piacenza in 1974 and moved to The Netherlands in 1999. Since 2006, I am active as film programmer for film festivals and as curator of special audiovisual events for several local festivals, venues and art galleries. In 2007, I co-founded the live cinema project |Cine|Sonic|, a multimedia platform aimed at presenting silent and experimental films and videoart compositions with new electro-acoustic scores, with shows presented at Lowlands festival, 5 Days Off, EYE Film Institute, Transylvania International Film Festival, Rocket Cinema and more. From 2008 to end 2010 I worked gibbs free energy as Head of Cinema for SMART Project Space in Amsterdam, managing and programming its two cinemas. Since 2011 I work as freelance programmer for a number of Amsterdam cinemas (Rialto, De Balie, Melkweg, Uitkijk) and film festivals (PLAY Music & Film Festival / IDFA, See Me Hear Me, The End Film Festival, Balkan Snapshots..). Since January 2013 I am also in charge of special film programs at Plaza Futura in Eindhoven and started collaborating as guest programmer with institutions such as Bingerlab, FOAM (Amsterdam Museum of Photography) and EYE Film Institute.
